Shijima-Qt v0.1.0 is out. First beta version!
Shijima » Devlog
Shijima-Qt continues to improve to become the easiest and fastest way to run desktop pets on Windows, macOS and Linux. Here is the changelog since v0.1.0:
- Windowed mode. If you're a streamer, you'll love this: You can use windowed mode to run all of your favorite shimeji within a single window, then use this window in OBS Studio to show these shimeji as an overlay on your streams!
- More ways to automate interactions with shimeji. Once again, if you're a streamer, you can use this in streams to let viewers interact with shimeji by making them perform certain actions in response to chat messages or events. To learn more, see the GitHub release notes for v0.0.4 and the HTTP API documentation. Feel free to also create an issue on GitHub if you have any further questions.
- Transparent areas of shimeji are now click-through on most Linux desktop environments.
- Bug fixes to resolve some crashes due to misconfigured shimeji. Rick and Morty shimeji by nekojiru on itch.io should now work as expected.
- Linux arm64 builds are also now included in new releases.
As always, the more technical release notes are available on GitHub (v0.1.0, v0.0.4), and if you encounter any issues you can create an issue to report them.
Also, an update regarding the development of Shijima-Qt: For now, the development of Shijima-Qt is paused. It could take a month or two before I start working on it again, so the next update might take a while to come out. However, please continue reporting any issues you encounter so I can get to them before the next version comes out.

How do I get a character other then the defult mascot
You can easily find many shimeji on the internet on websites like X, DeviantArt and Pixiv. You can also look them up on Google with a query like "<character name> shimeji". They're usually distributed as archives (i.e zip/rar/7z files). You can import them directly into Shijima without extracting them yourself.
